Maintaining Amateur Radio Systems in Gloucestershire

History

History of Gloucestershire Repeater Group

The group was started in 1984 (as ‘Gloucester Repeater Group’) with the initial aim of providing a 70cm voice repeater in the Gloucester area.

During the ‘Packet Radio’ peak in the 1990’s the group operated a number of systems at various locations around the county leading the changing of its name to Gloucestershire Repeater Group.

Whilst the group no longer maintains traditional Packet Radio systems it does operate one APRS system (MB7UCC) and two 70cm Voice Repeaters (GB3GH & GB3UK) as well as a 2m Voice repeater (GB3CG) and a narrow-band microwave Beacon (GB3CCX) currently on 10GHz and expected to be on 47GHz in the near future.
