Originally Installed 16th June 2004
Originally using a 486 Computer shared with the old GB7RC (River Crossing) Packet Node, a Kantronics KPC9612 TNC and small Handheld Transceiver.
However due to a Faulty Computer system was off-air for some time in 2004
MB7US was changed to Standalone TNC and Handheld Transceiver in December 2004
The System had a number of issues over the years and on visits found that the system had been turned off inadvertently it seems
In 2016 it was mentioned that the system had not been heard for some time and perhaps had been turned off again
in late 2016 – early 2017 we were notified by ETCC that the NOV had expired however there was noone within a suitable distance of the system available to renew the system and the committee decided to leave the system turned off
After some interest in APRS Connectivity in the area and a new keeper found within the vicinity of the bridge happy to take on the NOV this was renewed in October 2017 – NOV was re-approved in November 2017 and we hope to plan a site visit to re-instate the MB7US system in the near future
