Gloucestershire Repeater Group oldest packet node (GB7GH) is due to be turned off in the next few days.
In the past this Node provided many links to the North, South and West from Cheltenham and Glocuester, however due to the decline in use of packet radio and ever increasing site fees it is no longer viable to keep the system running.
Update: The GB7GH Node was turned off on Monday 24th August
For many months now the only usable links provided by GB7GH were to link the MLVN (G4FPV) Node and GB7GLO BBS to the Internet connected NODE at GB7LGS, thus providing links to a number of nodes and BBS systems around the UK, by careful re-use of existing linking frequencies it has been possible to re-engineer a link between GB7GLO and GB7LGS directly (via RF) which means the GB7GH node is now redundant.
